What is the best kind of exterior door to buy?

Front doors are the first thing people see when they come to your home and an important part of keeping our summer heat and winter snow out. That’s why it’s important to know your options when choosing the right exterior door for your home
Solid Wood
Pros: Solid wood doors are insulated with foam with an insulating value of R-5. Strong and sturdy, solid wood doors make an attractive first impression.

Cons: Solid wood doors need to be refinished and maintained throughout the life of the door and are more expensive than fiberglass or steel. Wood doors can warp or twist because of moisture.
Fiberglass
Pros: Fiberglass doors are energy efficient and durable. Some fiberglass doors come in a wood-grain look that can be stained for an attractive entryway. These doors won’t crack or warp over the life of the door. Fiberglass doors are fairly affordable.

Cons: Fiberglass doors are typically more expensive than steel.
Steel
Pros: Steel doors are extremely durable and are not prone to warping or cracking. They are usually the least expensive of all wood doors, but still have a foam core for energy efficiency.

Cons: Steel doors can be scratched or dented.
